Important Notice: Bringing Jewelry into Mexico (Wedding and Engagement Rings)
In accordance with Mexico’s Customs Law and applicable foreign trade regulations, all goods entering the country are subject to inspection and classification by customs authorities.
In this context, jewelry—including engagement rings and wedding bands—may be considered imported merchandise when transported in their original box, case, or packaging. As such, these items may be subject to import duties and applicable taxes (including VAT and other applicable charges), even if they are intended for temporary use during a celebration.
For this reason, travelers are advised to take precautions when carrying high-value items. If in doubt, visitors should declare such items to Mexican Customs upon arrival in order to avoid unexpected charges or possible retention of the items.

Taxis
To travel from one city to another, you can expect to pay around $60 to $70 USD. The red and yellow taxi vans operate in San José del Cabo, while the blue and green vans run through Cabo San Lucas. These vans are available 24 hours a day and are never far away. For those who enjoy traveling like the locals, hopping on a public bus that runs between the two cities costs between $2 and $3 USD, depending on the exchange rate. With highway stops at major hotels along the corridor, the ride takes approximately one hour.
